Introducing dwp|gary szillich

dwp’s collaboration with Gary Szillich creates engaging culinary concepts that define experiential dining across the globe.

Gary has been designing culinary concepts around the globe for 25 years. He says: “It all began in Sydney in the right place at the right time. I grew 12 extremely successful restaurants – featuring a variety of concepts – from scratch. I eventually realised I was very much more passionate about the creative process than operating.”

Szillich’s extraordinary talent is conceptualising and creating aspirational venues. His partnership with dwp brings together two global companies renowned for delivering exceptional work with the best in the field.

He is a master in creating destinations that find the elusive balance between memorable experiences and commercial success and says: “The relationship between a great concept and great design is like the sparkle on the Christmas tree. We are creating dreams.”

Café Claire. Bangkok

An intimate breakfast room for the Oriental Residence transforms into a popular restaurant for elegant lunch and dinner. One of only a few all day dining concepts that work in a hotel environment.

Alluding to the traditional ambience of the hotel, dwp|gary szillich added a Viennese design with a French twist. The cafe has since become a popular choice for in-house guests, residents and locals.

Private Residence, by Anne Carson Interiors. Palm Beach, Florida

Built as a spec home by American developer and real estate entrepreneur, Robert Gottfried, whose signature French Regency style residences remain sought-after.

Anne Carson Interiors renovated and redecorated the private residence with large rooms and high ceilings for a couple to make it their full-time home. The space was enhanced with a layered interior architectural detailing: a large crown molding, thick door casings and soffits to create door openings between the rooms. The living room was painted the serene soft pink of the inside of a seashell to compliment the client’s contemporary art collection, with upholstery in pale pink damask and touches of silver grey. Special Swedish antiques add interest to the eclectic mix.

Hamptons Property by Anne Carson Interiors. New York

A spacious waterfront, shingle-style summer-home in the Hamptons, with access to boating and watersports, needed renovation and refurbishment to give the interiors a fresh up-to-date feeling which enhanced the stunning views.

Anne Carson Interiors decorative renovation work was applied throughout the formal main house. All interiors were painted white; creating the perfect backdrop for their client’s contemporary-art. The walls of the large rooms were finished with wide horizontal planking and elegant wood tray ceilings; adding further visual height and depth. Wooden floors were antique-whitewashed for a fresh, light ambience and topped with thick rugs to add warmth and texture. The Master Bedroom suite was updated with a large bathroom, his-and-her dressing rooms and a sitting room.

Given the tight timeline for completion; the client was delighted they were able to enjoy the house for summer.

North Lake Way by Anne Carson Interiors. Palm Beach Florida

Designed and built from the ground up this waterfront home, with expansive grounds, was developed as a sunny family escape from cold New York winters.

Anne Carson Interiors was an integral part of the initial design direction and creation of the layout of the property. Generous gallery spaces were made in the entranceway and halls for the presentation of their important art collection. Beaux-arts design elements are featured in the detailing and symmetry with a main central section and two wings on either side. The self-sufficient wings allow for an expanding family to have both privacy and togetherness.

Although a huge hurricane closed off access to the island of Palm Beach, throwing off the construction schedule, the client was happy the home was completed in time for them to move in and enjoy the winter ‘social season’.

Park Avenue Apartment, Manhattan by Anne Carson Interiors. New York City

Renovation and redecoration of a full-floor apartment at 720 Park Avenue for an influential art collector and member of the board of trustees at MOMA and Whitney Museums in NYC. Built in 1928 this is one of the most prestigious addresses in Manhattan.

Anne Carson Interiors designed the living room in a neutral soft silvery grey palette so that the important art collection, including work by Picasso and Dubuffet, would be the main focal point in the living room. The selection of the accent furniture and accessories were also of high importance: a Giacometti coffee table, a Gio Ponti end table and a Calder stabile with a Lalanne box.

It was paramount to keep the integrity of the original NeoClassical architectural carved wood panelling from 1928, originally designed by Rosario Candela, intact while making it feel more current.

Penthouse Apartment at The Breakers by Anne Carson Interiors. Florida

Modern architectural elements were blended with comfortable furnishings for the interior design of a penthouse apartment on the beach, with views of the ocean and open sky.

Anne Carson Interiors renovated the space with art gallery aesthetics to showcase the client’s important contemporary art collection. The apartment has modern, open plan spaces with concrete floors and floor to ceiling doors and windows highlighting the expansive views. The walls are finished in a Venetian plaster matte finish without trim or moulding. A Bulthaup stainless steel kitchen continues the minimalist theme throughout. Special Swedish antiques and a few well-chosen accessories, such as tortoise boxes, add authenticity and interest while keeping the clean minimal aesthetic.

Private Residence, Gin Lane by Anne Carson Interiors. New York

A large contemporary Hampton’s home located within walking distance to the beach that was originally owned by Vera Wang’s family was in need of renovation and a decorative facelift. Built in the 1970’s it has a modern architectural style, in a “U” shape, with a central patio and pool and large sunken living room.

Anne Carson Interiors used Venetian plaster on the walls in a white glossy finish to balance the dark wood floor. The interiors are light and bright with upholstery entirely in white with a hint of light blue. The home is a summer vacation home for a large family with six children so stain resistant, a washable outdoor white fabric was used for the indoor upholstered furniture with extra slipcovers that are easily removed.
